Validating your model

It is very important to validate your models behavior before deploying it in the field.

There are two main methods of doing this.

1. LAB TEST. Firstly have the system expert sit with you and validate your model structure, tests, etc. and simulate troubleshooting sessions using the runtime version. When you are satisfied that your model matches the actual design data and that it troubleshoots accurately, you can move to the second phase. See section on generating model reports for more information on validating the model.

2. FIELD TEST. Once you have passed the lab test, you can move on to the field test and induce faults on the real system (where possible). Validating your diagnostic application in this way is the best test of its accuracy and usefulness.
