Fault modes or rules or symptoms can be added to components to be triggered when they return a bad test.

 

 

To link a fault mode to a component, select the component in the tree and then select the Rules tab.

 

 

Drag the rule over to the Fault modes tab and it will now be linked.

You can drag and drop as many fault modes as you like and link them to this item

 

To unlink the rule right click the linked rule and click Unlink.

 

 

The implication of the above rule if triggered by a hoist brake problem where the user selects Hoist brake slipping will make the output of the hoist brake bad, and make the output of the PLC good. It is obvious that if the brake is activated but does not completely stop the hoist, that the PLC output is activating the contactor. Thus this only leaves us with 3 suspect components.
