Fully automated tests would be tests that the system can do at any time if it is switched on. In other words the system does not have to be in a special state or require operator intervention.
Examples could be
Power on (if the system is switched on it can sense it)
Spreader connected (if the system is switched on, it can sense the presence of a spreader)
